Gran Canaria’s hot shopping and food experience in the South
The grand opening of ‘The Market Puerto Rico’ offers the perfect combination of luxury shopping and quality healthy food.
The flavours that take us far away are always those closer to us. The true luxury is time, when hours and minutes cease to exist. And there is no better feeling than the sense that there is a surprise around the corner. This and other ingredients mix to create ‘The Market Puerto Rico’, in the coast of the municipality of Mogán, a hot new shopping space in the Southern Gran Canaria, rooted in concepts such as sustainability, local produce and the permanent desire to create unique moments for every visitor.
This initiative is just another sign of Gran Canaria’s bid for quality and diversification of the offer for visitors and locals alike. One motto, to leave a print on the client and not on the planet, sums up the philosophy of the centre, with constant references to Gran Canaria’s nature and biodiversity, through gardens with nearly 15,000 plants, and where more than half of the sixty species represented in the oasis are endemic of the Canary Islands. It’s another symbol of ‘The Market Puerto Rico’ involvement with the environment.
The vertical gardens expanding across the building areas, the parking lot with chargers for electric vehicles, the photo voltaic panels or the glass that minimizes the sun’s heating effect, thus reducing the air conditioning, are signs of a space with more than twenty luxury brands stores, all sharing the values of attention to detail, fresh products and, above all, respect for the environment.
Here, every moment has a flavour. Especially at the ‘Gastro Gallery’, with seven different offers open Monday to Sunday, and where the most exquisite, healthy and surprising dishes are prepared in front of the client, replicating the concept of the traditional markets of the main Spanish and European cities.
Also, at ‘The Market Puerto Rico’ shopping universe, the shining stars of fashion brands include sports fashion, nautical accessories, surfing & skating and jewellery, amongst many others. The centre takes advantage of its privileged location and Mogán’s extraordinary climate, opening up outdoors with a cosy “chill out” zone.
The food area, in excess of 2,000 sq. metres, offers a wide variety of vegan, vegetarian and organic products, gluten and wheat-free, lactose and sugar-free. The visitor will find special sections such as La Cava de Vinos (The Wine Cellar) with more than 500 references of local, national and international wines, under the personal advice of winemakers from Gran Canaria, La Cava de Quesos (The Cheese Cave), with more than 400 different types, with special mention of the Island’s excellent cheeses), La Cava de Cervezas (The Beer Keller), with local and international beers, and El Rincón del Jamón (The Jamón Corner). Gran Canaria and the world perfectly fitting on your tray.
The promoters of this new shopping space, located on Puerto Rico’s main road, wish to make of ‘The Market Puerto Rico’ a place where visitors may find the unexpected, offering ingenious and attractive answers to this day’s consumers, looking for a combination of natural and quality products, as well as for a great shopping experience.
For this reason, the centre’s philosophy revolves around ‘slow shopping’, where visitors are encouraged to take time and enjoy each purchase, and where every detail is thought to make the visitor feel comfortable and satisfied, and around ‘slow food’ (international movement born in Italy, in opposition to the standardization of taste and flavours in food, and which promotes a new philosophy that combines pleasure and knowledge). From now on, the South has a new attraction in addition to the sun, the sea and to Mogán stunning landscape.
