The Greetingman welcomes travellers arriving in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The sculpture, located in Plaza de Canarias, in front of Santa Catalina Quay, symbolizes the close relationship between the Republic of Korea and Gran Canaria.

Visitors to the port area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will encounter a six-meter-tall, two-meter-wide figure weighing two tonnes, made of aluminium with a steel inner structure. It is impossible to miss, and you can’t help but lift your gaze when standing before it. This is the Greetingman, a donation from the Republic of Korea (South Korea) to commemorate sixty years of Korean presence at the Port of Las Palmas and seventy years of diplomatic relations between Spain and Korea.

Agaete, Gran Canaria

Agaete, the Measure of Beauty in Gran Canaria

The World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) names the Gran Canaria municipality the Best Tourism Village 2025.

Agaete is a verse by Tomás Morales, a brushstroke from a luminous painting by Pepe Dámaso, the sound of oars slicing through the ocean waters. It is the early-morning crack of a firework, the cheerful bustle of music and papagüevos, a sunset gazing towards Mount Teide. It is a play of colours that changes every day, the Faneque cliff rising over the Atlantic; it is the sea, the trace of an ancient aboriginal culture, Malpaís and Maipés. It is a lush valley, it is coffee, mango, orange and papaya; it is fish, it is the crab that peeks out as the waves break. It is El Juncal, the devotion to the Flemish painting of the Virgin of Las Nieves, it is Faneroque, Antigafo, El Risco – and the majesty, energy and magic of Guayedra Beach.

The Afurgad Journey through Firgas, in Gran Canaria

Firgas is inaugurating a mini-train route that includes a gastronomic tasting of local products from the town along the way.

Firgas unveils a new way of presenting itself. We already know that if we walk through its ravines and footpaths, we will find many of the last vestiges of what was once the Doramas Forest. In its historic centre, we can also find a tiled representation of all the municipalities of Gran Canaria. But now we can enjoy a circular tour of the town on a mini train which, in addition to showcasing many of its landscapes, allows us to savour its gastronomy. The Aguas de Firgas mini train takes us on a two-hour journey, with audio explanations in English, French, German and Spanish, revealing many of the attractions that visitors have sought out for centuries in this privileged corner of the island of Gran Canaria.

Artistic streets in Vegueta, the old town of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

In the capital's neighbourhood, we find streets linked to the memory of Saint-Saëns, Alfredo Kraus, Luján Pérez, Pérez Galdós and Néstor Álamo.

There are walks that take us to places where art was born or where the memory of someone who sowed beauty remains. The neighbourhood of Vegueta, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has art, beauty and history throughout its streets, museums, cathedral and churches. But it also has secluded streets where, if we pay attention, we can almost recognise the presence of those who once walked on its cobblestones and pavements.
