León y Castillo House Museum
Situated in the house in which two distinguished Gran Canaria personalities were born, namely Fernando León y Castillo, the first marquis of Muni, and his brother, Juan, the engineer who designed the port named Puerto de la Luz and who was a faithful exponent of Mudejar architecture in the Canaries. Along the exterior of the house, arches reminiscent of the gothic style have been preserved.
The museum also houses a research centre, with a library that is specialized in contemporary history. This centre organizes courses, seminars and conferences, while also awarding scholarships and a research prize.
Permanent exhibitions:
The exhibition rooms contain exhibits of personal items that belonged to the marquis of Muni, such as letters, documents and furniture, in addition to an important collection of art works, including canvasses by Madrazo, Gusachs and Meifrem? The original plans of the Puerto de la Luz are also on display here.
