The museum is installed in the house where the writer Benito Pérez Galdós was born and where he lived until 1862. The different dependencies hold the furniture from Galdós?s homes in Madrid and Santander as well as the library, archive and personal effects of this writer from Gran Canaria.
Aside from the place?s sentimental value, the house is one of the most representative examples of 18th century Canary architecture and it is a must-see for anyone studying Galdós from all over the world.
Every four years the Galdosian International Congress is organized, and specialized courses and seminars are often held on the author and his times.
