The mountains of Inagua, Ojeda and Pajonales comprise one of the best-preserved natural pine forests in Gran Canaria. This, together with the fact that various important ravine peaks are found here, means that the reserve plays a fundamental role in undeground water replenishment and in soil conservation. The flora and fauna includes various endangered endemic species, some of which have their largest populations here. These pine forests are the main refuge for some bird species, such as the blue chaffinch. The area is of great scientific, geological and geomorphological interest and forms a spectacular landscape.
