The reserve incorporates one of the last laurel forest strongholds in Gran Canaria. The flora and fauna comprises typical laurel species and includes many endemic species of great scientific interest (more than 50 species of plants and hundreds of invertebrates), some of which are endangered species, including Los Tiles false sage or ironwort (Sideritis discolor) and Canary foxgloves (Isoplexis chalcantha). For many species this place is home to the majority of their populations.
