Remember that before you travel with your pet, its health passport must be up to date. This means the EU pet passport when travelling within the European Union, or animal health certificate for non-commercial animal travel for dogs, cats and ferrets issued by official vets in the country of origin.

As a general rule, for pets to travel within the EU, including the Canary Islands, they must be identified with a microchip and their rabies jab should be up to date, although some Member States have additional requirements such as anti-parasite treatments.

Animals are not allowed on public transport (buses) with few exceptions (you can check them here). In the case of taxis, you should check with the driver beforehand.

Keep in mind that some rental companies charge a supplement for upholstery cleaning, so we recommend that you always bring a blanket to cover the seats.
